All five Villanova runners in action on the first night of the NCAA East Regional automatically qualified for the national quarterfinals in their respective events at Hodges Stadium on Thursday evening. Senior Emily Lipari (Greenvale, N.Y.), sophomores Kelsey Margey (Huntington, N.Y.) and Angel Piccirillo (Homer City, Pa.), and junior Stephanie Schappert (Delray Beach, Fla.) all were automatic qualifiers in the 1500 meters. Senior Nicky Akande (Lawrenceville, Ga.) won her first round heat and automatically advanced in the 800 meters.
