Redshirt freshman Ben Malone (River Vale, N.J.) won his heat of the 800 meters to move on to the quarterfinals and Villanova also qualified three runners for the quarterfinals of the 1500 meters during competition at the NCAA East Preliminary on Thursday evening. There were seven Wildcats competing overall at Hodges Stadium on the first of three nights of competition at the regional meet. Senior Rob Denault (Aurora, Ont.) and sophomore Josh Lampron (Mansfield, Mass.) each won their heats in the 1500 meters and junior Jordy Williamsz (Melbourne, Australia) was also an automatic qualifier for the quarterfinal round.
