Senior middle distance runner Angel Piccirillo (Homer City, Pa.) was on the cusp of history with a sensational performance in the 1000 meters and Villanova rode several strong performances to a second place overall finish at the Great Dane Classic on Saturday night. Piccirillo headlined the Wildcats results at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Athletic Complex by running the second-fastest 1000 meters in school history and approaching the longtime school record held by Villanova head coach Gina Procaccio.
